Capture the color

My friend tipped me about the photoblog contest Capture The Color, where you submit a picture in the following 5 different colors.
check out the contest here :)
http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/holidays/capture-the-colour/

Here is my contribution :)

White:

This picture was captured in Salar De Uyuni in Bolivia in april this year.
It is basically a huge desert with salt, truly a photographers dream!
Being there, there is no noise, there is nothing that compromises you perspective... its just air... and freedom... well, it makes you wanna be naked and in one with nature ;)

Red:

This picture of an amazing hawaiian dude with his torch I captured in Maui in November last year. It was amazing to watch, feeling the flames burn while this big guy twirled it around himself like a ballerina dancer. extremely cool :)

Yellow:

This picture I took in Oruro, Bolivia in April this year. This hot spring is in the middle of nowhere, the air is ice-cold crispy and the water is boiling hot. It was soooo relaxing to sink down in the water and just be....

Blue:

This picture i took on my trip to the moon earlier this year...
:)
But seriously! it felt, looked and... maybe smelled? like the moon!
It was freeeeezing, all around there was geysirs shooting out steem, boiling magma pits .. and you could walk around freely! It was insane!! But it smelled like a monkeys butt! If it wasn't for it being so damn cool, i would probably have fainted and landed in one of them pits :P

This picture is taken in Bolivia aswell, so you can probably understand how in love I am with this country! I

ts like all the wonders of the world has been placed in one country. like a playground for whoever created this planet! :)

Green:

Meet my pet-turtie Alma :)
This was captured while snorkeling in Maui last year. Turtles are so peaceful to be around... its like you finally understand what its all about. Life, stress, decisions... doesn't matter so much anymore when your swimming next to a turtie :)

Oye Veracruz! :)

I went solo to Veracruz this week and I absolutely loved it! :)

Colorful streets of Boca Del Rio

I brought Lonely Planet as a travel partner, but let me tell you: He doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about! So my best advise is to only trust the map and get your way around by talking to the locals and ask them for tips. And its so much more fun! :)

In veracruz they have DELICIOUS fresh seafood everywhere! But at the beach do not order the 200 peso plate from the beach bars, just buy it fresh of the grill from the many nice jarochos that stroll the beach selling it for a tenth of the price :)
Yummy!
Theres also fresh juices, fruits with chillies and pina coladas too dieeeee for! :D :D

There is lots to do in the city, but daaaaamn its hot! i have been all over the world, but this was intense!! so during midday ur best of inside a cooled museum, in the water or the aquarium where they have dolphins!! :D

Thats it! I want a dolphin!!

or you know… a cute guy that speaks dolphin :)

Seriously! as touristy as it may be, take the city tour bus! so much easier to understand the city from the second floor of a bus :)

baseball match at Playa del Mar

I went on a boat trip to isla cancunsito (which according to lonely planet is the best beach in veracruz, but infact its a sandbank completely covered in water. Thanks LP!) so my plan to hang out at this gorgeous beach was crushed, but i had such a cool time snorkeling there! finding urchins and sea spiders (its NOT a new tattoo as everyone keeps asking!!!)

covered in todays catch

me and my travel buddy :)
We went to Isla de Sacrificios, an island used for human sacrifice and later on a leprosy colony. Buuut you can’t go on to the island as its guarded by the military (which we all decided was because they have some big secret there that noone can know about… like zombies)
You get there by lancheros that you find by the beach, and they also tell you the history behind it, make jokes and gives you general tips about the city.

Que mas?
Yes! the Zócalo. Its a grand plaza in the heart of Veracruz with many bars and restaurants and on the weekends there is a big band playing up for the locals to dance Dansón (an old mexican dance) very cool! but kinda weird to look at as they dance veeeery slow….

veeeeeery slow :P

my two mariachi amigos :P

The nightlife in Veracruz is intoxicating and they have something for everybody! on the weekends there is live music everywhere and happy people all around :)

me and my salsa teacher :)

there was a booty-shake competition and they tried to drag my norwegian ass up on stage! no frikken way! :P these girls go all in! were talking tiny leopard dresses being torn off after request from the audience.. hilarious! :D

Hurricane Helen stopped by to say hello :P

a rose pettle from roberto… awwwww… :P

Traveling alone you meet people everywhere you go, and I really got to learn the mexican slang! Cause there is ALOT of slang in this language! And i also learned how to deal with the piratas lurking around! i will actually agree with my old friend lonely planet here: The jarochos (veracruzanians) will gladly share their last taco with you and just as gladly take your last peso. True story :P so unless you know how to walk the walk and talk the talk, you will defiantly pay 3 times more than you should. So here are some tips :)
Oye! = Hey!
Chela = Beer or randomly enough, me! a white person… even though i thought i got a tan!! :(
ALWAYS say amiga or amigo when you talk to people
Por fa – saying por favor, just proves your a tourist (and we can’t have that! :P )
“Oye amigo! Chela por fa!” :P
Always ask the price for the taxi ride before you get in, and always bargain it down to half of what they’re saying!
keep change in your pocket when buying things on the street, give them what you want to pay and say Basta! accompanied with a hand gesture and a smile. usually does the trick :)
Drink chelada (beer with salt and lemon juice) and a cocktail de camarones (shrimp cocktail) at the beach during sunset. the many talented mariachi bands will set the mood and you can just sit back and enjoy :)

coolest beach mariachi with his harp :D

Give me a chelada and a coctail de camarones and ill be a happy girl :)

i gotta say, i LOVED traveling alone! everyone comes up to you and wants to know who you are and what your doing there. they love foreign people! as I again was the the only blonde for miles i got a lot of attention. The women wanted me to take pictures with their kids and the men wanted to marry me. So all in all an AWESOME WEEK! :D
And the grand finale… My new home! :D

how awesome wouldn’t that be?? :D

Hasta luego! :D
