#LosTuxtlas for #independence day weekend

This weekend I went to Los Tuxtlas with my good friends Abril and Alejandro and their family, to celebrate Día De Independencía. Los tuxtlas is an area that contains Catemaco, San Andrés and Santiago and its about a 4 hour drive from Xalapa (4,5 if you stop in Cardel for delicious shrimp cocktail, wich you definitely should!:)

Jumpstarting with some Sol clamato - very weird! it tasted like sparkling tomato soup. but kinda delicious actually :)
We arrived early at night and went straight to their uncles house where the whole family and then some was gathered for a celebration!
And a celebration it was! And there was real charros there!! :) (mexican cowboys) so we saluted in tequila, talked about horses and looked at ther guns :P
The food was ammaaazing! We had pozole and taquitos. Thats something else than the Old el Paso in norway :P (NOT SAYING I DONT MISS IT!!)

Come on! I had to try the hat! :P heavy...

The national song and gunshooting :D

Come on! i had to try it on!!

The parade honoring The Charros - The heroes

Then we went to Nanciyaga for a walk in the jungle where we got our face painted with mud for our outer beauty, we drank mineralwater for our health and got our aura cleansed by a shaman.

In nanciyaga - excited for the jungle

In the middle is the oven they heat the stones for the temazcal (the sauna)

The temazcal

Getting our facial on with mineral masks - Mel Gibson comes here all the time :)

It was a really weird experience, i was a littlebit nervous at first, butt hen she asked me to step into a circle and i just relaxed in an instant! She put leaves on me and said many prayers. Then she started burping…. Like alot!! So she said my aura was really bad :P and thats the way the bad spirits goes out of me and out through her.

Getting my aura cleansed by a shaman

So now Im all clean and fresh! :)

Beautiful huh?? you can stay in the huts to the left... yes please!

:)

I got a necklace from the shaman to bring with me all the time, and no one could touch it but me. Of course I had to climb this stupid goldman and break it :(

CUTE!!!

Here were eating snail cocktail on the side of the road. crunchy, but delicious!

Eyipantla waterfall outside Catemaco.
Tlalocc, the lord of the rains, alledgedly ruled Los Tuxtlas in pre-hispanic times. And the Eyipantla waterfall was his home.

And wet it was! we got a nice refreshing shower! :)

We had a familydinner in the afternoon, and I got to try Chiles De Nogada. Peppers stuffed with beef with a creamsauce and pomegranate. Deeeelicious! And its in the colors of the flag in the spirit of independence day :)

Everyone in the area gathers at this field in San Andrès for Festival Los Globos where they send up paper hot-air balloons. it was beautiful!

Festival Los Globos
Of course. Not everyone made it very far, so u had to pay attention at all times so u didnt get hit :)

VIP section - you know it! ;)

Of course you can get pina coladas :D

Yesss!! happy!! Los Tuxtlas for the win! :D

So again, my recommendation is that EVERYONE MUST GO HERE! it was amazing! of course i had the privilege of an entire family making my stay amazing. But either way. This place is coooool!! :D

Ta Luego!

#Puebla, #Mexico - The city that has everything! :)

I went to Puebla this week to check out the city that everyone speaks about! And Im on love! such a cool, cute, happening place! They have pyramids, churches, pyramids WITH churches ontop of them, fountains, a plaza full of containers with bars inside them, grand clubs and much much more. So I have to go back, because I wasnt able to see half of it this time.
Here is some of my pics Enjoy!

The end of a fun night with amazing people

Me being a bit tired the morning after :P

cruising Puebla in style

On the rooftop of Puebla

The coolest fountain I have ever seen. they were blasting the music and people were dancing and jumping in the water :)

I had to join the fun :) This is near the fortress in Puebla

This beautiful church has the balmed body of a former priest inside

The balmed body of a priest. People come to him to pray for their loved ones

The cathedral of Puebla in the centre of town

A cute little street filled with genuine mexican items and traditional dresses ;)

After a day of sightseeing, nothing feels better than a ice-cold mischelada (beer of your choice, lime, salt, and hot sauces or chile slices.) Yummy!!! :D :D

I  got to go to a traditional mexican birthday with these beautiful people. :)

The birffday girl!

Out clubbing with Maria drinking blue champagne :)

So latinas are known for their excellent dancemoves. So me being a tight-up norwegian thought id teach her the robotdance instead ;) She nailed it!

So for the mexican slang of the week:

"Esta cabron de hacerlo" - This is hard to do! (remember from last week that cabron is also a cool/fearless dude. Understand it those who can:)

"No este chingando": Dont bother me!! :P

"Ahuevo!": I did! :)

Crazy language.... :P

I had an amazing time, but time went by so fast! Ill keep u updated on my next trip :)
Everyone should definitely go here once in their life!
Ta luego!

A saturday in Xalapa

Took a walk with my camera this saturday... And there is ALOT happening everywhere :P
Come walk with me!

I love these cars!!!
There is a lake in the centre of Xalapa with different activities. for instance u can zip line across it.  :) Bueno, veeeeeeery slooooowly. but still cool! :)

not exactly crazy on the edge zip-lining!! :P its basically horizontal, and they need to come get u half way with a paddleboat because u stop. (ok, that last part was a lie :P but its frikken slow :D

How many mexicans can u fit in one paddleboat?

I hid in the bushes to finally be able to take a pic of the heavy armed police. still freaks me out a little

Ok, so Xalapa is the capital of the state of Veracruz, and here you have both the political houses of the city and the state. So there is alot of tension here now following the presidential election in July. So on saturday there was a demonstration against Pena Nieto (Institutional Revolutionary Party), who was declared the legitimate winner of the presidential election by Mexico's highest electoral authority on Friday. This despite continuing claims of vote fraud. So especially young people here are trying to take action against it as his party has been tainted with corruption, fraud and economical crises is the past.
Its very intense and fascinating to be there. You can really feel their frustration and anger!

And then to finish of the day I came across  some sort of performance under the bridge I was walking on.

So cute :)

MEXICAN SLANG OF THE WEEK:

So I am learning new things every day. About the same words!!! because they have a million meanings. And I am more confused than ever.... :P

So Pedo that i mentioned last week: Que Pedo! which means "Whats up!" has a trillion different meanings! And therefore its impossible to understand... so these are so far the once ive understood
Ok, so as a noun it usually means "problem" - No hay pedo --> No problem
As an adjective it means drunk. Estoy bien pedo, eyy! "Im very drunk" :P (NEVER used it! ;)
Cual es tu pinche pedo? means "what is ur f*^#$ problem?"
But its not a very formal way to speak... so only too good friends, or young people.

No mames! still dont understand completely :/ But its used as no way! or Come on! so you hear it aaaaallll the time in some crowds!

So a cabrón is a guy who’s a sort of badass, right?
That’s one interpretation. But this guy can be a real jerk too, someone you talk about with disgust or fear.
Then you can say que cabrón! which is used to describe a thing or situation as opposed to a person. This, too, can be positive or negative, but it’s gotta have a particular edge to it.
I heard a funny example:
-Narcos entered a popular restaurant and collected the cell phones of all the customers, warning them not to make any phone calls or act out of the ordinary. The narcos ate peacefully, returned the cell phones, paid everyone’s bills, and continued on their way. Que cabrón! -
Obviously, when you’re having a chat with the sweet grandmother señora on the corner you don’t want to bust out with “ay, cabrón!” :P

Common slang sense needs to be provided in mexican as well. so sense ur audience ;)

Moving on!

My neighborhood <3
At night I went to a Alice in Wonderland theme party with this crazy bunch :)

I was still pretty tired on monday after saturday (Who are you calling old??!!:) So I needed a bear.... a coffee bear! :D :D You see what i did there? beer...bear... jeeez!:P

Im finishing of with something silly! :P

Just wanted to pick her up and put her in my pocket :)

Hasta luego!!
