A saturday in Xalapa

Took a walk with my camera this saturday... And there is ALOT happening everywhere :P
Come walk with me!

I love these cars!!!
There is a lake in the centre of Xalapa with different activities. for instance u can zip line across it.  :) Bueno, veeeeeeery slooooowly. but still cool! :)

not exactly crazy on the edge zip-lining!! :P its basically horizontal, and they need to come get u half way with a paddleboat because u stop. (ok, that last part was a lie :P but its frikken slow :D

How many mexicans can u fit in one paddleboat?

I hid in the bushes to finally be able to take a pic of the heavy armed police. still freaks me out a little

Ok, so Xalapa is the capital of the state of Veracruz, and here you have both the political houses of the city and the state. So there is alot of tension here now following the presidential election in July. So on saturday there was a demonstration against Pena Nieto (Institutional Revolutionary Party), who was declared the legitimate winner of the presidential election by Mexico's highest electoral authority on Friday. This despite continuing claims of vote fraud. So especially young people here are trying to take action against it as his party has been tainted with corruption, fraud and economical crises is the past.
Its very intense and fascinating to be there. You can really feel their frustration and anger!

And then to finish of the day I came across  some sort of performance under the bridge I was walking on.

So cute :)

MEXICAN SLANG OF THE WEEK:

So I am learning new things every day. About the same words!!! because they have a million meanings. And I am more confused than ever.... :P

So Pedo that i mentioned last week: Que Pedo! which means "Whats up!" has a trillion different meanings! And therefore its impossible to understand... so these are so far the once ive understood
Ok, so as a noun it usually means "problem" - No hay pedo --> No problem
As an adjective it means drunk. Estoy bien pedo, eyy! "Im very drunk" :P (NEVER used it! ;)
Cual es tu pinche pedo? means "what is ur f*^#$ problem?"
But its not a very formal way to speak... so only too good friends, or young people.

No mames! still dont understand completely :/ But its used as no way! or Come on! so you hear it aaaaallll the time in some crowds!

So a cabrón is a guy who’s a sort of badass, right?
That’s one interpretation. But this guy can be a real jerk too, someone you talk about with disgust or fear.
Then you can say que cabrón! which is used to describe a thing or situation as opposed to a person. This, too, can be positive or negative, but it’s gotta have a particular edge to it.
I heard a funny example:
-Narcos entered a popular restaurant and collected the cell phones of all the customers, warning them not to make any phone calls or act out of the ordinary. The narcos ate peacefully, returned the cell phones, paid everyone’s bills, and continued on their way. Que cabrón! -
Obviously, when you’re having a chat with the sweet grandmother señora on the corner you don’t want to bust out with “ay, cabrón!” :P

Common slang sense needs to be provided in mexican as well. so sense ur audience ;)

Moving on!

My neighborhood <3
At night I went to a Alice in Wonderland theme party with this crazy bunch :)

I was still pretty tired on monday after saturday (Who are you calling old??!!:) So I needed a bear.... a coffee bear! :D :D You see what i did there? beer...bear... jeeez!:P

Im finishing of with something silly! :P

Just wanted to pick her up and put her in my pocket :)

Hasta luego!!
